The Seagaia Ocean Dome was the world's biggest indoor waterpark, situated in Miyazaki, Japan. The name of Seagaia is a combination of the words “sea” and “gaia”, which means earth.
This water park is famous for its artificial beach so amazing, you can play surfing with fairly large waves, artificial sand and the world's biggest retractable roof, which provided a permanently blue sky even on a rainy day. The air temperature was always held at around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) and the water at around 28 (82 degrees Fahrenheit).
The Seagaia Ocean Dome opened in 1993, and was officially closed on October 1, 2007 it is now totally renovated as home to enormous indoor water park with white sandy beach, palm trees, water slides and a wave machine capable of surf-levels. The roof of the structure was retractable in four sections.
It is a amazing place and is very crowded with visitors, visitor numbers peaked in 1995 at 1.25 million a year. Entrance cost was ¥2600 per adult and ¥1600 for children (roughly 30 and 20 USD in 1995 respectively) Japanese yen, depending on the season.
